    Reset Browser to System Defaults

    • 1). Press the "Windows" keyboard key to open your start menu.

    • 2). Type "Inetcpl.cpl" in the Search box and press "Enter." This opens the Internet Properties component.

    • 3). Click the "Advanced" tab and then click the "Reset" button. This opens a Reset Internet Explorer Settings confirmation window.

    • 4). Click the "Reset" button at the bottom of this dialog. This action removes installed add-ons and resets all browser settings to their default level.

    • 5). Open Internet Explorer after you are notified that Windows has completed resetting your browser. Continue reading if problem persist.

    Revert to Previous Version

    • 1). Press the "Windows" key to open the Start menu.

    • 2). Type "Remove Program" in the Search box and press "Enter." This opens an Uninstall or Change a Program window on your screen.

    • 3). Double-click "Microsoft Internet Explorer." This opens a confirmation dialog.

    • 4). Click the "Yes" button to continue with removal. Windows will restore Internet Explorer to the previous version. Restart your computer once this process completes.

    Update Internet Explorer

    • 1). Open the browser and navigate to the Internet Explorer download section on the Microsoft.com Website. This page automatically determines the appropriate version for your computer.

    • 2). Click the blue "Download Now" button. This displays a File Download dialog. Click the "Run" button and wait a moment for this small file to download. Once finished, an installer will automatically load on your screen and begin to download and install the resources your computer needs to update Internet Explorer. The length of this process depends on your connection speed and the amount of needed files.

    • 3). Click the "Restart Now" button on the "Internet Explorer X is Now Installed" dialog box. You may begin using the updated browser on the next boot.
