When the seasons of long grass growth is coming to an end and you are going to give your brush cutter a rest there are a few things you should do first so it will be ready for next year.
Here are a few tips to help guide you.
Draining your fuel tank.
The first thing you should do before you put your brush cutter away is drain the fuel tank.
To empty the carburettor out fully simple start the cutter on an empty tank and let it idle until it runs out and stops.
Now inspect it for dirt and allow it to dry before putting away.
Clean the spark plugs.
The next thing you should do is clean the spark plugs and take a look at the electronics.
If the spark plug has an even brown colour then the plug is still ok.
If it has any other type of colour then it means it needs replacing or cleaned.
Inspect and clean the metal cutting tool.
Now you should remove the cutting blade and check it for damage.
While you have it removed you should also clean it from any grass stains and dirt.
If you buy corrosion protection and apply it to the blade it will keep it good for next year without replacing it.
Mowing line.
Next you should fix the mowing line up.
Removing it from the mowing head, take the line spool and store it in a generally moist area.
Next year when you have to start using your brush cutter again, 2 to 3 days before hand, take your mowing line and lay it in a container of water.
This will ensure that it becomes flexible enough to use again.
Storage.
When storing your cutter it is best to find somewhere, where you can hang it.
This will save space on the ground and it will not be in the way of you.
So if you want to get your brush cutter fixed up so it will be ready for next year, follow some of these tips to ensure your cutter will be well cared for and ready for the long grass season.
