How to Build a Children's Workbench
- 1). Line up the four, 1 by 6 inch workbench top boards horizontally and set them side by side. Place two of the 2-foot, 1 by 4 inch boards vertically on top of the other boards. Set them a foot in from each end. Nail into place to attach.
- 2). Set two of the other 2-foot boards along each side edge of the top. Nail to secure. Follow them by attaching the 3 feet and 2 inches boards onto the front and back. These boards will overlap the side boards. Nail into place.
- 3). Place a 4 by 4 inch post sticking up from each corner. Hammer one to two nails in from each of the side boards to attach. Flip the workbench over and nail down into the posts at the corners.
- 4). Mark a line around the outer sides of each leg that is one foot up from the ground. Hold the last 2-foot boards horizontally with the top edge of the board lined up with the marked line on the legs. Nail into place on each side. This creates support for the table to keep it from wobbling.
- 5). Place the last 3 feet and 2 inches boards along the marked lines on the front and back of the bench. Nail to secure. Finish the workbench by sanding the surface to remove any areas of potential splinters.
