How to Make a Wooden Toy Car
- 1). Cut the dowel in two. These two pieces are the car's axles. Place a line of hot glue along each dowel piece and attach them to each end of one side of your wooden block–about two centimeters away from the end. The wooden block is now the car's body.
- 2). Slide a washer onto each side of both dowels.
- 3). Slide one doughnut shaped piece of wood onto each side of both dowels. These are the wheels. The hole in the middle of the wood should be slightly larger than the diameter of the 1/8 inch dowel. It should be tight enough so the wheels aren't falling all over the place, but loose enough to allow for proper rotation.
- 4). Glue a medium sized button to the ends of both dowels. The buttons will prevent the wheels from falling off.
- 5). Glue your wooden cube to the top of the wooden block–place it at one of the far ends.
- 6). Decorate your car by painting side and front windows onto the wooden cube. Finish by painting the body of the car a solid color. Paint on details like door handles, windshield wipers or even a driver and passenger for a more realistic look.
