Where Can I Pick My Own Strawberries on the Eastern Shore of Maryland?
- You'll find strawberries available for picking at farms in several counties, including Caroline, Cecil and Dorchester counties. You can also pick strawberries at you-pick farms in Kent, Wicomico, and Queen Anne counties. Some of the farms encourage the whole family to join in the berry-picking experience by offering playgrounds, tours and petting zoos.
- Strawberries start ripening in early June in Maryland. Before you head to the farm to pick your fruit, make sure to call and confirm the berries are ripe and ready for picking.
- When picking your own strawberries, make sure to bring small flat containers to hold the fragile berries, although many farms supply them. Plan to pay by the pound for the berries you pick. Bring sunscreen and a hat to help keep sunburn to a minimum.
