Indian Railway On Google Maps
Gone are the days when we had to look at those lengthy big charts on Indian rail website and plan our travel , thankfully that era is over now.
Now you can track your train's live status on Google map and also get alerts on it as it reaches a point or crosses a station and yes this data is real time with live feeds from the GPS chips installed on the trains.
All the trains are equipped with GPS devices which send the latitude and longitude values to trainenquiry server and displayed to public on their computer browser. You can locate the train from the main page where you need to enter the train number or station name or the train name and it will take you to the result page displaying the status of your train.Another option is to use the rail radar utility provided by the trainenquiry.com which will give you the live radar of the whole country. There you will be able to locate each and every train running in any part of India.Blue trains are the ones which are on time and red ones are the trains which are delayed.
Since the introduction of this revolutionary technology there was a lot of hype among the users as this was some thing new and totally innovative , the user base grew and so the performance of the servers.People started complaining about the high latency and page load problems. Most of the servers were over loaded most of the times and it leads to frustration of user and a bad user experience.Due to high volume of users and low scalability options with Indian railways , we developed another fast solution which gives a limited amount of live data to users but at blazing speed.
The data provided to user is same but the interface is very fast and doesn't need any page refreshes. This uses AJAX technology to pull the data from servers and publish the results to the same page. You can also check the status of the PNR on this portal , please navigate to PNR search page and you will have to enter the 10 digit PNR number.
Once that is entered you will be able to find the status of your PNR.
This portal is open to public and can be accessed via http://trainstatusenquiry.com
