Perfect your moves at Salsa Night on Sunday, August 17, 2014, from 7-9 p.m. This is a FREE event, open to the public. Anyone interested can participate.

At Salsa Night, expect to partake in an energetic environment filled with movement and music. Cosa Seria, a 7-piece Latin band, along with dancing instructor Gabe Scott and his Xplosive Rhythms Dancers, will be entertaining and educating the crowd.

All ages and abilities are welcome.

Everyone can work up an appetite dancing. If you are feeling hungry, food trucks will be on the scene offering up delicious and affordable snacks, meals, and beverages. There are also plenty of restaurants nearby, a few of my favorites are below.
  • Manny & Merle's: A casual bar and restaurant with a honky tonk theme. Great tacos.
  • Doc Crow's: Fresh oyster bar, barbecue ribs, and the best po'boys in town. If you are a bourbon drinker, Doc Crow's is a stop on the Urban Bourbon Trail.
  • Hillbilly Tea: Focusing on local ingredients, Hillbilly Tea has meat as well as vegetarian and vegan options. Usually, on Sundays, the restaurant closes early, but the bar is open later. Call for details.

Once you've learned a few steps, you'll probably want to show off your dance moves. Remember to keep WorldFest on your calendars. WorldFest is one of the region’s largest international festivals, an experience of international food, music, dance, culture, and education. The event takes place each a Labor Day weekend, it is an annual tradition on Louisville’s Belvedere, located in the heart of downtown Louisville.

The Summer Series is the result of a partnership between The Louisville Downtown Partnership and the KFC YUM! Center

What is The Louisville Downtown Partnership?
The Louisville Downtown Partnership is "an economic development agency comprised of the Louisville Downtown Development Corporation (LDDC) and the Louisville Downtown Management District (LDMD). LDP is a vocal advocate for downtown, working with property owners, government agencies and elected officials to create downtown jobs and investment."

What is the KFC YUM! Center?
The KFC YUM! Center opened in 2010. It is an arena, used for sports and performances. Yum!—the Louisville food corporation that owns Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, and other fast-food chains—contributed money to the building of the arena. In turn, the structure is named YUM! and the concession stands serve Yum! foods.

The KFC YUM! Center is located on Main Street, close to the Ohio River. Artists who have performed at YUM! include Elton John, Carrie Underwood, Justin Bieber, The Eagles, Lady Gaga, KISS, Taylor Swift, Jimmy Buffett, and Bruce Springsteen. The arena is also the official home of the University of Louisville men’s and women’s basketball programs and women’s volleyball program.
