Genital warts are nothing but a virus transmitted through skin-to-skin contact.
It affects both male and females.
However, in case of male genital warts, they not only suffer physically but psychologically too.
The reason being, it becomes an embarrassing situation once warts starts appearing on the genital parts.
Fear of rejection by their sexual partners, compels them not to disclose the fact of having contracted the infection.
It may be an upsetting situation, but doctors have played an important part in helping them deal with ease.
It is good to know that there are fewer complications in treating male genital warts as compared to female warts.
Male genital warts are normally easy to locate or identify as it often infects the visible part of the skin.
Warts appear skin coloured, at times in red or brown on the skin.
The area where it is infected becomes tender with unfamiliar dampness.
These warts can be flat or raised and sometimes causes itching or burning sensation.
Warts alone do not cause any pain, but depending on the area of infection, people have reported severe sores and discomfort.
Male warts are found on the penis, groin, scrotum and thighs.
It can occur either internally or externally in the body.
They can be diagnosed in several ways.
In normal circumstances, doctors would conduct thorough visual inspection in and around the genital areas, for symptoms of warts.
There have been cases where warts are found under uncircumcised foreskin of the penis.
Most males diagnosed with these warts, have accepted the fact that they are embarrassed to discuss these problems with anyone including another male, because it is humiliating at the same time creates an awkward situation.
Most males tend to look out for information and quick treatment on heath related sites, which creates further delay in the healing process.
Male warts have tendency to reappear if proper precaution and high standard of hygiene is not followed, after the treatment.
It is good to know that most male genital warts are treated with simple topical application along with oral medications.
However, in some extreme cases, method of removing warts surgically becomes the only option.
