Problems With Ford Focus Batteries
- Ford Motor Company recalled 291,854 2001 Focus vehicles on Nov. 6, 2002 due to battery electrical problems. The connections between the battery and the engine were misrouted. According to Automotive.com, an automotive consumer website, this defect caused there to be a potential for the battery cables to short, which rendered the vehicle unsafe to operate.
- Drivers of Focus vehicles complained on Edmunds, an automotive information website, about having to change the battery due to a mysterious cause of the battery dying. Dead batteries can be caused by defected connections, loosening or corrosion to the battery.
- Battery lights activate on Ford Focus vehicles for reasons that are sometimes unrelated to actual battery malfunctions. Electrical problems within the vehicle are associated with causing the battery light to turn on automatically. However, battery lights should always be evaluated when they activate to rule out the possibility of there being a battery problem.
