National Parks are reserves or areas where wildlife species are protected from extinction. Here, tourists and wildlife enthusiasts can watch these amazing species at their natural habitats. Being protected and undisturbed, these parks encourage flora and fauna to flourish in nature. One can come across medicinal plants, wild flowers and myriad exotic species of flora in these parks. Beautiful and endangered species of fauna such as Rhinoceros, Tigers, Elephants, Leopards, Deer, Bears, etc. freely roam the forests. The park is also home to variety of exotic birds and reptilian species.

India has many national parks which are established for the protection of wildlife. Amongst these, the notable ones include Corbett National Park, located in Uttarakhand, Kaziranga National Park of Assam, Kanha National Park in Madhya Pradesh, Ranthambore in Rajasthan and the Sundarbans National Park of West Bengal. Another renowned national park is the Tadoba Tiger Reserve situated in Chandrapur district of Maharashtra state.

The Tadoba Tiger Reserve, a national park, is one of India's 47 tiger reserves protected under the €Tiger Reserve' project. It is not only the oldest but also the largest wildlife reserve in Maharashtra. The reserve's mostly deciduous forest is home to a treasure-trove of flora and fauna. Wildlife enthusiasts can look out for a variety of beautiful and endangered species of wild animals, apart from the famous Bengal tigers.

Below are some of the various attractions which present an opportunity for tourists to explore and enjoy at the Tadoba National Park:

Tadoba Lake is an old lake surrounded by mesmerising natural beauty, with mountains on all sides. It is a permanent and largest water source in the area. On the banks of the lake, is a famous temple of God Taru, or Tadoba, who was allegedly killed by a mythological tiger, according to a legend made popular by the resident tribal people.

Pandarpavni meadow is a haven offering visitors a chance at sighting endangered wild animals like tigers, four horned deers, spotted cats like leopards, wild dogs, etc. who frequent this area of the reserve.

Panchadhara is one of the many waterholes where tigers are often seen lounging on the banks.

Taleya Lake located in the park is surrounded by grasslands where wildlife can be seen quenching their thirst or loitering around.

Vaghdoh, another attraction of the national park, is a dense jungle of thick bamboo plantations. Here, assorted local species of birds and insects, including colourful butterflies, can be spotted.

Katezari is a lush plantation of green jamuns, mangoes and arjun trees which grows throughout the year - and tourists are encouraged to relish the fruits first-hand.

Andhari River is a pleasing sight as its meanders through the dense Tadoba forest.

Anyone looking for a vacation or a wildlife adventure can plan a visit with ease as the Tadoba Tiger Reserve is open throughout the year. A jungle safari ride through the famous park allows one a close encounter with different species of wild animals. These popular and exciting rides as well as many other adventure outdoor activities are facilitated by the Tadoba Tiger King Resort, one of the most popular resorts in Tadoba.
