How to Make a Kite That Flies in Heavy Winds
- 1). Fold the paper in half lengthwise.
- 2). Put the isosceles trapezoid cardboard template on the paper where the fold is located.
- 3). Trace around the isosceles trapezoid template carefully with a permanent marker.
- 4). Cut the trapezoid shape out of the paper using a pair of scissors.
- 5). Glue the long piece of bamboo (25") into the fold of the trapezoid to make the spine.
- 6). Put small weights going down the bamboo spine to set the glue and prevent it from moving.
- 7). Glue the two other pieces of bamboo at the top and bottom of the paper kite.
- 8). Attach the cable ties evenly on either end of the bamboo spine so that they are flush with the edges.
- 9). Trim the ends of the bamboo spine to be even with the ends of the kite.

Decorate with colored paper or tissue paper, creating personal designs. - 11
Attach tension lines around the cable ties using string. - 12
Poke small holes next to the bamboo spine with the toothpick and knot a bridle line around the spine and spreader. - 13
Wrap the string around the bridle line twice. - 14
Slide the bridle down so that the kite is a couple of inches from the top of the bamboo spine. - 15
Attach the flying handle made of string to the loop. - 16
Cut a tail out of tissue paper. - 17
Attach the tail with glue for flying in heavier winds.
