The entire experience of walking barefoot on a healthy lawn is quite exciting.
The main thing is about maintaining a healthy lawn and lawn care is very important.
One need not have to really panic when it comes to lawn care.
Detailed planning is very important and one needs to adopt the right preventative measures when it comes to lawn care.
By adopting the right watering measures, mowing, fertilising and raking, you can take care of your lawn.
Grass grows naturally without any specialised procedures, but it is important to also prevent it from attracting diseases and it can be achieved by adopting the right lawn care measures.
There are some simple tips which can help in ensuring that your lawn is maintained healthily.
First and foremost, watering is very important.
There is no hard and fast rule that a lawn needs to be watered everyday, in fact too much of watering will actually spoil your lawn.
Excessive watering will lead to shallow root growth and cause problems.
However, in summers you may want to frequently water it as the water evaporates very quickly.
Never water the lawn at night as the grass remains wet overnight which can lead to fungus and there is a risk of diseases.
Mowing is another important lawn care which can be adopted and lawn owners need to mow their lawn regularly and the best time to do so are the early evening hours.
The grass clippings can be left on the lawn itself as it is very good natural manure for the lawn and one fourth of the fertiliser needs are met with these clippings.
Lawn care also involves raking wherein the fallen leaves need to be cleared.
Similarly, in areas where there is snow, one needs to remove the leaves so that the lawn is not destroyed.
Fertilising the lawn is very important.
You need to provide the right fertilisers and not use too many chemicals.
Nitrogen fertilisers are the best as they lend a green healthy look to the lawn.
Phosphorus fertilisers make the roots stronger and also help in fighting diseases.
Lawns too attract diseases like humans and hence one needs to adopt the right fertiliser treatment.
Brown patch is the most common thing which a lawn attracts.
It is a kind of fungus which appears in lawns which has too much of nitrogen.
Fungicides containing chlorothalonil can be used for treating this condition.
Another common lawn related problem is that of Septoria leaf spotting wherein the colour of the leaves either turn to pale yellow or gray in colour with small black dots.
A fungicide which has mancozeb is used for treating this condition.
Another lawn care includes using mild chemicals for treating powdery mildew which arises either due to excessive shade or limited air circulation.
High humidity is another factor which results in this condition.
Hence, it is advised to plant trees which are shade tolerant.
