- Tip #1: You first have to decide on what type of shed you want to build.
Then ask yourself this question: Do you have the experience or talent design your own? Is shed architecture one of your fortes? If not, you can easily locate a shed plan online.
- Tip #2: Do your due diligence and research multiple websites for finding a shed plan.
Stick with sites that have lots plans to choose from, plenty of articles, and a few videos so you can actually see how a shed it put together from the ground up.
- Tip #3: Success is in the planning! Get your shed blueprints ready and take a trip to your local county zoning office.
Chances are good you'll need to get a building permit.
Once you've got that in hand, decide where you're going to build your shed in your backyard.
Does it need to be near electricity or water? Are you going to want phone service? Tip #4: Now comes times to choose the type of foundation.

• Skid, on the other hand, is going to be more cost efficient as it's a timber flooring with approximately two inches of gravel underneath.
  It's also the easiest of the two and is great for most people's yards.
  

- Tip #5: Now you have to think about wall construction.
If insulation and padding is not important to you, use broad wood planks that are attached to two or three beams.
This type of construction is very easy and fast.
Otherwise, take a little more time and a little more precision to construct the walls with two pieces of plywood and a piece of lattice sandwiched in between.
You'll be creating a strong wall that offers some padding for insulation as well as a pleasing aesthetic.
- Tip #6: Nothing is more frustrating than making your own shed only to realize you didn't build a doorway wide enough to get your stuff in! You also need to make sure you're measuring twice and cutting once because you want your door or doors to fitand open and close properly.
- Tip #7: Build a solid roof! It's sole purpose is to protect your entire structure from the elements.
It's no fun to come out to your shed and see the roof caved in from the heavy snow.
You can have fun here too, though, with the different roofing styles available.
