Coconut Oil"s Many Benefits
On my quest to get healthier I always have an ear open for new information I feel might benefit my health.
I heard of something called coconut oil from a woman whose body I have admired for some time Jennifer Nicole Lee.
If Jennifer Lee felt that this oil was beneficial then I felt that I could at least learn about it and this is what I found.
I learned about some amazing health benefits that come from consuming coconut oil.
Coconut oil has an ingredients called lauric acid, capric acid, and caprylic acid ( all three have antimicrobial, antioxidants, antifungal, antibacterial, soothing properties) that some researchers say yield health benefits in some of the following areas: •Stress relief •Maintaining healthy cholesterol levels •Aids in weight loss •Relief from kidney disease •Lowers high blood pressure •Helps with proper digestion •Increases the body's immunity Lauric acid is converted into monolaurin in the body, which is thought to aid in fighting viruses and bacteria causing diseases such as influenza, herpes, cytomegalovirus and even HIV.
However, the exact apparatus of action is unknown about coconut oil but this has not stopped countries like Ayurveda from using as a medicine.
In addition to the ingredients mentioned earlier, following is a list of some of the ingredient in Virgin Coconut Oil: •Polyunsaturated fatty acids-Linoleic Acid •Monounsaturated fatty acids-Oleic Acid •Poly-Phenols -Gallic Acid which is supposed to be responsible for it's smell •Vitamin E, Vitamin K and Iron *There are only traces of Polyunsaturated and Monounsaturated fatty acids Mary Enig, a PHD, biochemist, nutritionist, and Author of Know Your Fats: The Complete Primer for Understanding The Nutrition of Fats, Oils, and Cholesterol stated that most American diets are lacking in lauric acid.
She recommends 3 tablespoons of extra virgin coconut oil every day (organic, cold pressed).
Ms Enig states that this will not only boost the metabolism but also improve hair and skin conditions.
This was enough information for me to get started using each morning in my oatmeal.
I also occasional bake my chicken with it and it smell amazing.
The aroma just flows through the house.
It did not take long for me to notice that I had added energy with my workout and I had less craving.
There was a minimal improvement to my skin but it was an improvement.
Although I did notice the improvements, I will have to say, it is not cheap.
Coconut oil costs about $15.
00 for 16 oz.
I was going through it quite often and I had to start to curtail my use (I used about 2oz a day).
However, that said I would definitely recommend this product, a lot of other countries benefit from oils such as these we should learn a few of those valuable lessons.
