How to Determine Monster XP for D&D
- 1). Open the Dungeon Master's Guide to page 38, which contains a chart titled "Table 2-6: Experience Points Awards."
- 2). Locate the column with the Challenge Rating (CR) of the monster. The Monster Manual entry for the monster will list its CR along with the rest of its statistics.
- 3). Locate the row that corresponds to one PC's Character Level.
- 4). Write down the XP amount listed at the intersection of the row and column determined in the previous two steps.
- 5). Divide the XP amount by the number of players in the group that helped defeat the monster.
- 6). Repeat Step 3 through Step 5 for each player that participated in the encounter.
