New Hampshire Nonresident Vehicle Registration Law
- New Hampshire law provides that a non-resident owner of a vehicle who "has complied with the laws of his (home) state relating to registration and licensing" may be exempt from New Hampshire registration requirements. To qualify, the owner must have "established a bona fide actual residence" in that state, reside within 15 miles or less from the New Hampshire border, live in a state which grants reciprocity to New Hampshire residents, and drive only 15 miles or less into New Hampshire.
- Upon establishment of bona fide New Hampshire residency, non-resident vehicle owners must register all vehicles which are operated in the state. Owners have a maximum of 60 days after the date New Hampshire residency was established to register there.
- Section 21:261:43 establishes fines and penalties for non-compliance with New Hampshire registration requirements for non-residents. The amount of any fines and penalties assessed on New Hampshire residents for their non-compliance in that state will be assessed against that state's resident for non-compliance with New Hampshire registration requirements.
