How to Do an Electronic Portfolio Using Powerpoint
- 1). Click on "New Presentation" from PowerPoint's "File" menu.
- 2). Choose a background for your slide. It should be more interesting than plain white, but it should not be so colorful or busy that it distracts from your material.
- 3). Right-click on your first slide and click on "Duplicate slide." This will copy your slide's background. You will need to repeat this as you go along, for as many slides as you wish to include for your portfolio.
- 4). Go back to Slide 1 and write your name and other relevant information in the text boxes. If you are using the portfolio in a professional context, then include contact information.
- 5). Go to Slide 2. Click on the "Insert" menu and select "Picture." A window will open with your folder structure. Choose your image file and click on "Insert" in the window. Make sure that "Link to picture" is unchecked.
- 6). Write your caption under the image. If you wish, you can go to the "Insert" menu and click on "Text box" in order to have a new field to write in. Repeat until all your pictures have been inserted into their own slides.
- 7). Go to the next empty slide. Click on "Insert" menu and select "Movie." Select your file. You can choose that the movie will play automatically or when clicked. You can also right-click on the embedded movie and click on "Action settings" to further customize when and how your movie plays. Repeat this until you have inserted all your movie clips.
- 8). Save your slideshow. Your portfolio is now complete.
