How to Clean Vertical Vinyl Blinds
- 1). Dust the blinds. Close the blinds and dust them with a damp cloth once a month. You can also use a feather duster or a vacuum cleaner with an attachment. Starting at the top, run the feather duster, cloth or vacuum attachment across the slats. Close the blinds in the other direction and repeat.
- 2). Work on spots with a cloth or sponge and an all-purpose cleaner. Spray the cleaner on the cloth or sponge and then rub the stain off the slat.
- 3). Wash the blinds annually with a special cleaning tool. This tool, made for vertical vinyl blinds, is generally available from home and garden stores and janitorial supply stores. Dip the cleaning tool in cool water mixed with a mild detergent, squeeze it around the top of the slat and slide it down. Rinse the tool in cold water and repeat the process. Allow the slats to dry naturally, or wipe dry with a cloth.
