How to Find Old GMC Trucks

104 10
    • 1). Ask around: talk to older family and friends.

You may be surprised to find the truck you're looking for by simply asking a few people if they or someone they know has a vintage GMC truck they're looking to sell. Older family members or friends may have been hanging on to an old truck that is stored in their garage collecting dust.

    • 2). Get in touch with a local GMC dealership.

Talking directly with a GMC dealership will help you track down an older truck. Dealerships will be able to help direct you to where to look for their vintage trucks. They may know certified dealers or auctions where you can purchase the old truck that you're looking for.

    • 3). Check the newspapers.

Look for any articles about classic cars events. Throughout the year (especially during the summer) local classic car groups will get together to showcase their cars. These events are open to anyone to come and check out these cars. You can attend the event and meet different owners of the vintage vehicles. From there, you can gain a lot of information regarding purchasing an old GMC truck. Many of the people who showcase their cars have other cars and trucks that they may be willing to sell.

    • 4). Check want ads.

If Steps 1-3 don't work out, you can try want ads. Look through your local newspapers to see if anyone is selling a vintage GMC truck. If you find someone, give them a call and let them know you're interested. Never exchange information over the phone before you've seen the vehicle. When you go to look at the vehicle, always take someone with you. It's also best to take along someone with expert knowledge of vintage GMC trucks to ensure that you get the fairest deal possible.

    • 5). Check the Internet.

The Internet will surely produce leads on old GMC trucks. Make sure that you look for the truck in an area close to yours (vintage vehicles should not be driven over long distances). When you find one that you like, contact the seller. Like in Step 3, never exchange information over the phone or the Internet. And always take someone with you to take a look at the truck before purchasing.
