Microdermabrasion Side Effects & Risks - Is This Treatment Safe?

103 142
Safety is an important issue anytime there is a relatively new product on the market, sometimes it takes a few months, or even years before sufficient evidence will reveal the downside of that product.
Since its arrival in the United States some 10 years ago, tens of thousands of people, professionals, and celebrities have had the opportunity to weigh the merits of microdermabrasion.
A close examination of microdermabrasion side effects is warranted now that sufficient time has passed.
Because microdermabrasion is a mechanical cosmetic device, the manufacturer must register their device with the United States Food & Drug Administration (USFDA), and after adequate procedures the US FDA will approve or deny the device.
The manufacturer may have to submit their product to clinical trials, scrutiny by experts in the field of dermatology and general acceptance by the FDA that their product is safe.
Make sure when you purchase a machine or have a treatment performed, the machine has met the approval guidelines by the US FDA.
Known microdermabrasion side effects are generally a result of inappropriate usage, or usage in conjunction with other drugs or ailments.
When used properly and following the instructions conscientiously you will have no problems and no ill side effects.
Below are examples of cases where adverse side effects can occur.
*The machine should never come in contact with the eyelids, or in close proximity to the under-eye area, as optical damage can occur.
*Persons with Rosacea (a reddening of the skin) should not use Microdermabrasion as it may aggravate the disease during an outbreak *Persons with Eczema should not use the microdermabrasion on the affected area *Persons with active acne (whiteheads or comedones, inflammatory papules, pustules and nodules) wait until your skin is free of acne that may puncture.
*Persons with Herpes-Simplex warts, opening a sore may spread the infection.
*Persons who have used any acne medication that contained Isotretinoin in the preceding 12 months.
Following safety guidelines and not abusing the intended purpose of the machine will ensure that any microdermabrasion side effects will not adversely affect you.
