In this article, you will learn how to use the mechanical bridge effectively.
This is because many people don't know the proper way to use one at the pool hall.
What is a mechanical bridge? It is a another device that looks like a cue with its tip acting as a bridge.
It is a highly important tool that is used even in professional matches despite the high level play.
Why should you use it? You are forced to use it because your left hand, the original bridge can't extend as far as the mechanical bridge can.
For example, you need it when you have to shoot across the table but you simply can't extend that far.
Here are some guidelines on how to use it.
Put it down Don't lift it in the air with your left hand.
Let it remain steady on the table with your left hand holding its butt (stick end).
This is because you never want the bridge to move without warning when you take the shot.
You want the mechanical stick to remain as steady as possible by lying flat on the table cloth.
Your elbow For too many people have gripped the cue wrongly when taking a shot with a mechanical bridge.
You must grip the cue butt with your thumb and first 2 fingers.
In this position, your palms should be facing downwards.
When you are about to shoot, use only your forearm to do it.
Keep other arm and body parts steady and stable, just like how you would during a normal shot.
Never move your head or body while delivering the shot.
This will only minimize accuracy.
