The Teeth Whitening Controversy

103 6
There is a huge trend that started a number of years ago concerning whiter teeth.
Soon the mass majority of people were looking up better ways to get white teeth and to remove the stains that were there from smoking, wine, caffeine, and many other things that make the teeth look less than white.
As time went along, many more products were added to the market.
Because of the ingredients in some of the products, there has been a controversy as to whether or not whitening the teeth through various chemical means is actually good for the health or if people should stop using the products.
In various whitening products, there is a high level of acid amongst other ingredients that help to remove the stains.
The levels to which these ingredients are added vary according to the product.
The stronger ones of course produce better results but are only advised to be used very moderately as to not ruin the enamel of the teeth.
The safer products seem to be cheaper and used to a safer degree but with people being slightly impatient with the results, they may not be completely satisfied with the pace that the product whitens the teeth.
There is then another added element to the controversy which is a little newer.
Fruit has a high level of acid in it, at least certain types do.
There are now studies to suggest that various types of citrus fruits are worse for your teeth than the whitening treatments.
So is this a ploy to make teeth whitening look better after all the beating it has taken over the years or is it true? Because of the sponsorships and all of the different opinions, it might be something that we never know as there are so many things that factor into it.
