Detoxing For Weight Loss Tips
If you are looking to start on a healthy eating plan or re-start your current lifestyle (Healthy eating is an ongoing process and we are always needing to get started again!) a detox can be a great way to get on track.
Your taste buds are replenished every 7-10 days so by changing to a healthy diet which eliminates all the problems foods you can allow your body to adjust itself to the new tastes.
I find after a detox I can't stand the taste of sweets or chocolate anymore (this coming from someone who'll eat fudge brownie and a moccachino for breakfast!).
They taste artificial and far too sugary.
If you are planning a change of diet you should consult your doctor first and get a clean bill of health and make sure none of the new foods you are introducing will clash with your medicine.
It's also a good time to get a once-over so you can compare the changes to your health after a few months of healthy eating.
A good time to start is during a quiet period at work or while on holiday.
Your body may fight back as you introduce beneficial foods and you may even have withdrawal symptoms similar to an addict giving up drugs, alcohol or smoking.
1.
Stock up on plenty of fresh fruit and veges so you have lots of healthy foods options 2.
Get rid of any unhealthy temptations in the house like sweet, sugary snacks, fatty foods etc.
3.
Print out or write down a list of meal ideas so you don't get bored or struck with the same meals every day 4.
Stock up on a range of caffeine free herbal teas to add variety to your 8 glasses of fluid a day 5.
Pick up a nice body scrub and loofah from the store to give your skin a good "detox" too 6.
While you're at it get a good quality moisturiser to get your skin glowing 7.
Fill up a jug with water and another jug with your favourite herbals teas (I like raspberry, mint and mango mixed together) and add some sliced lemons and oranges and put them in the fridge 8.
Get your 30-60 minutes fresh air a day.
If your a runner get out running or hit the local park for a walk or some Frisbee with the dog (or kids!) 9.
Freeze some peeled bananas and berry fruit and throw them in the blender to make a great ice-cream-y treat to keep your taste buds happy! 10.
Take your vitamins, make sure you take a good quality multivitamin before, during and after detox to make sure your body is getting everything it needs.
You might want to take extra iron pills (with vitamin C) if you're cutting out all your meat too.
And one final tip: Remember to check with your registered medical; professional before embarking on a new exercise or nutrition plan - happy detoxing!
