How to Install a Toilet Fill Cycle Diverter
- 1). Close the toilet water supply valve, located under the left hand side of the toilet tank.
- 2). Flush the toilet to remove excess water from the toilet tank. Soak up any remaining water in the toilet tank with a sponge.
- 3). Unscrew the toilet water supply line nut from the underside fill valve threads with pliers.
- 4). Unscrew the fill valve lock-nut from the underside fill valve threads with pliers.
- 5). Pull the fill valve water supply tubing from the the toilet tank flush valve. Depending on the style of flush valve, the tubing may be clipped onto the flush valve or it may be inserted through a hole in a plastic holder.
- 6). Pull the flush valve from the toilet tank.
- 7). Slide the flat side of the shank washer fully onto the new fill valve threads.
- 8). Adjust the new fill valve height to 1 inch above the flush valve if the model is adjustable.
- 9). Slide the new fill valve through the hole in the bottom of the toilet tank so the fill valve tubing faces the flush valve. Ensure that the float does not touch the toilet tank walls which causes improper fill valve operation.

Screw the lock-nut onto the underside of the fill valve threads; tighten with pliers. Screw the toilet water supply line onto the fill valve threads and tighten with pliers. - 11
Insert the fill valve tubing into the toilet flush valve. The tubing may clip on or be inserted into a hole in the top of the flush valve depending on the flush valve style. - 12
Open the toilet water supply valve and wait for the toilet tank to fill completely. Check for leaks on the underside of the toilet tank and the toilet water supply line connections. - 13
Flush the toilet several times to check for proper fill valve operation and toilet tank water level. Adjust the toilet fill valve float according to the fill valve adjustment specifications on the manufacturer's label.
