Great spots- mediocore cruise experience.
Food-dinner menu/service- very good.
Lunch- no dining service except for a day(I think). The buffet was not so good. The juice or coffee machine were out of order or closed half the time and you had to walk a distance to get a drink.
Ice cream parlor- (joke) soft serve ice cream or yogurt-half the time the signs were mixed up and ice cream was in the yogurt machine. Only cones, no toppings. Yogurt or ice cream were empty half the time.
Chinese food- good but spicey
Pizza- good but you had to wait "7" minutes for a calzone; they were never ready.
Grill- okay. hot dog or sausage was bad.
Cabin- 8th floor balcony- cabin too small for two adults and two children
Childrens' services--Poor, over rated. Closed two hours for linch. Closed at 3:30pm -- 5pm when at sea for family events. I was looking for daycare while at sea and it was just the opposite. They force you to take their beeper that doesn't work(kids under 5). They threaten you that you will have to pay $75 if you lose it or break it. It turned out mine never worked the entire time I had it. Checking into the Camp Carnival is a long process--one kid at a time allowed in the gate, etc. They pretend to be protective over the kids but I saw inconsistency in each person that checked your kids in the camp.
One counselor charged for for 15 minutes babysitting when I was 4 minutes late; their clock was fast. I complained and they refunded my $1.50; it sounds petty but I was fed up with their whole program. This ship did not comp you babysitting on formal nights; Celebrity Cruises did. I did not tip any one. I was totally disappointed with the childcare services. I would not return on a carnival ship due to their inferior childcare program.
I requested late seating; we didn't get it. Eventually we got late seating but the light over our table was out until Thursday night. The waiter brought a flash light for us to read the menu and he actually changed the lightbulb himself.
The entertainment was good but the shows were very short.
Embarkation and disembarkation - good.
I would not travel a Carnival Cruise again unless I was going on it for free. Royal Carribean was clearly much better all around.
