How to Check My Virginia Food Stamp Balance
- 1). Call the Virginia EBT card customer service line at 1-866-281-2448 (the number is listed on the back of the EBT card). Call the number, press the option to hear your food stamp balance and enter the 16-digit EBT card account number (listed on the front of your card) when prompted. An automated system will give you your balance.
- 2). Check your food stamp balance online. Virginia EBT cardholders may check their balances at the Virginia EBT card website, JP Morgan (which manages EBT accounts for the federal government) or EBTedge, a federally-backed website for EBT card owners (see the Resource section for links to the three sites). The Virginia EBT website requires that you create a free account and select a username and password. Once you have created the account, you can then check your balance. Both JP Morgan and EBTedge require that you enter in your EBT account and PIN numbers to check your balance. No account registration is required.
- 3). Check your grocery receipt. After you purchase groceries at your local food store your remaining food stamp balance will be listed under the sales total.
- 4). Swipe your EBT card into an ATM machine. Since the EBT card is essentially a debit card it can be read in any ATM machine. Once you have swiped your card, enter the PIN number you selected when you were first assigned your card and your balance will be displayed. There is no charge to check your balance. You will not be able to withdraw any cash.
