Transforming your wall with a unique gallery wall
In an office, wall space is prime real estate. It is an opportunity to incorporate your own personal style by using artwork or bold accent wall colors. However, this blank canvas or large wall area can be intimidating. When designing your office space, try to use this blank space as an opportunity to hang artwork or to display important documents or memorabilia. A good way to keep the design process simple and to show off your unique style is to implement a large art gallery wall.
I love mixing some of my favorite pieces of artwork with a few inspirational quotes. You can also incorporate your own personal photos in the gallery wall too. Keep in mind though that the colors and styles of each print shouldn’t clash too much. If the patterns do get too hectic, I recommend picking art work that keeps to the same color tones of the other prints. This will make the art gallery look cohesive.
Layout is crucial.
You don’t necessarily need to use a ton of different prints or photos to make this wall stand out. At the end of the day, the most important thing is that you make sure the layout of the gallery wall makes sense. Think of it as a jigsaw puzzle. Play around with the different art pieces to see what layout looks best in your space. To make it easier for you, I highly recommend that you lay the artwork out on the ground before you start to hang them on the wall. This will save you a lot of time and frustration. If you decide to use prints or canvases, I recommend that you use a handful of different frames.
Don’t use the same frame for each piece. At your local flea market, you can pick up a ton of different sized picture frames relatively cheap. This will make sure that each piece of art stands out on its own. If you are hesitant to use a different styles of frames, you can spray paint all of the frames one color. This will make sure that the frames look relatively consistent
Like the idea of an gallery wall, but don’t want to just use art work? You can create the same impact of an art gallery wall using other unique sized objects. Here’s a few creative ways to implement a gallery wall in your office space.
Wall of clocks.
For a funky and creative art installation, create a wall of clocks in your office space. At local flea markets, you can collect unique wall clocks for this project. Try to pick clocks that are different sizes and shapes. This will make the installation stand out even more. Once you have collected a handful of wall clocks, you can spray paint the clocks. I personally love the look of combining different tones of one color. For example, a few of the clocks could be a dark purple and a few others could be lighter shades of lavender. Since this art installation is for your office, you can even set each clock to a different timezone. Artsy and functional.
Mirror, Mirror.
Another unique item to use to create a gallery wall is mirrors. I love the look of mixing different sizes of mirrors on a wall. If your office space is small, mirrors are a great way to create an illusion that the space is actually bigger than it seems. For a decorative touch, add hanging pendant lights right in front of the mirror walls. This will make the wall pop.
