How to Tint Brake Lights
- 1). Remove the brake light assembly from your vehicle. This might require you remove screws from the inside of your trunk, or even remove your bumper, depending on the type of vehicle you have.
- 2). Clean the surface of your brake lights using glass cleaner. Use lint-free towels when wiping glass cleaner from the surface of your brake lights.
- 3). Shake the tint spray can vigorously for at least two minutes, or whatever length of time is specified on the can. Hold the can 8 to 10 inches away from the brake lights as you spray an even amount over the surface. Ensure that the spray does not run or drip from the brake light. Allow brake lights to dry for at least 30 minutes before adding another coat or moving to the next step.
- 4). Spray a clear finishing coat evenly onto the brake light as you hold the can 8 to 10 inches away. Allow the brake lights to dry overnight.
- 5). Inspect your brake lights visually to ensure they have been painted and dried to your liking. Insert the brake light assembly back into your vehicle in reverse of how you removed it. Be careful not to scratch your newly tinted brake lights. Test the brake lights for proper operation.
