How to Make a Homemade Bridal Centerpiece
- 1). Put five glass globes of varying heights in a random pattern at the center of the table. Fill them with 1 to 3 inches of white beach sand, and place one pillar candle inside each globe.
Aim for harmonious variety---mix different candle heights with different globe heights, and vary the amount of sand in each, so that the centerpiece has an eye-pleasing mix. It may look elegant to arrange the globes with the tallest in the center, but consider the setting for the wedding centerpiece---if it will be against a wall, stack them so the tallest globes are at the back of the display. - 2). Arrange 5 ft. of braided vines around the glass globes. Snake the vines among the globes, but be careful to not cross the vine over itself, because this could obscure the candle flame. Consider wrapping the vine so that it forms a mostly completed circle around the entire wedding centerpiece. If you are preparing multiple wedding centerpieces, aim for a different arrangement for each, so avoid using the same pattern for the vines for each display.
- 3). Insert silk or live flowers into the vine.
Arrange the flowers so that they enhance the globes and do not obscure the light from the candles. Flowers that lay low and follow the grain of the vine will make for a visually appealing wedding centerpiece that mixes the flowers with the candles and the globes.
A bit of filler flowers, such as baby's breath, can keep flower stems from showing through the vines. - 4). Consider sprinkling a handful of the beach sand among the globes, inside the circle of the vines. This will help tie the vines to the globes and make the entire display more harmonious.
