How to Clean Plastisol
- 1). Remove excess ink from the screen using a plastic scraper. Discard the used ink, or place it in a cool, dry container for future use.
- 2). Place the soiled screen into a disposable aluminum pan, just deep enough to fit the entire screen. The pan will collect the waste ink and solvents from the cleaning process.
- 3). Slowly pour mineral spirits or screen cleaner over the screen and wash the solvent over the screen using a clean squeegee. Repeat the process until there is no more plastisol remaining on the screen. It's okay to have a little left on the frame.
- 4). Wipe the screen with a rag to make sure there is no residual ink left on the screen and rinse the screen one more time with the ink solvent.
- 5). Rinse the screen with water to remove residual solvent, and allow the screen to dry before using a different color ink. This prevents any solvent from contaminating the new color and making it run.
