How to Restore Time Machine to a New Computer

    • 1). Connect the hard drive you used for Time Machine to your computer and insert your Mac OS X install DVD in your CD/DVD drive. Restart your computer and hold down the "C" key to boot from the DVD.

    • 2). Choose your language on the installation program screen that appears. Select "Utilities" and "Restore System from Backup," and click "Continue."

    • 3). Select your Time Machine disk from the back-up sources shown and click "Continue." Choose the back-up image you wish to restore and click "Open."

    • 4). Choose your new computer's hard drive as the "Destination" disk and click "Restore." The program will ask for your administrator name and password to finish.
