Flying Your Home Business Under The Radar

105 13
They Never Saw It Coming

An important element of wartime success is the element of surprise. The attack on Pearl Harbor more than proves this point. By keeping the planes under the radar many an attacker has gotten the upper hand on its adversary.

Of course the advent of stealth fighters and stealth bombers has taken this reality to a whole new level. But that is a different metaphor.

Fly Your Business Low

The mistake many people make with home businesses is boldly invading the turf of big companies. They hope that they can steal a little bit of the market on a shoestring budget.

Of course the big companies don't want that to happen. They have millions of dollars they are willing to spend to keep their market share to themselves.

So what is a small business person to do?

Fly low. The radar metaphor breaks down a little here. In wartime the attacker stays low hoping to invade the enemy's carefully guarded turf. In business flying low can mean attacking turf the enemy (big company) really doesn't care about.

Nobody Can Sell You Everything

Even the largest companies can not sell us everything we want. And they don't have to. It doesn't make sense. It is much more profitable for a company to focus on the products and services that make them the most money. What is left? You might be surprised.

Have you ever had to search really hard for a product or service that met a particular need? Perhaps you were not even sure what you were trying to find. You just knew (or hoped) there was a better way to solve your problem, a better way to improve your life, a place to go to have more fun.

Have you ever wondered how many other people were searching for the same thing?

Fortunately for the small business person we humans are people of passion. We are not satisfied with the basic staples of life. We want to live life on a higher plan. We have desires, ideas, and quirks. We want to share our passions and experience new things. We want a simpler way to solve a problem. We want to have more fun.

Give People Want They Want

We use the internet for all sorts of reasons. But primarily we are all after the same thing. We want information. No matter what you were looking for when you were scouring the internet trying to find that illusive something, you were ultimately searching for information. I hope you found it. If you did it is because some passionate entrepreneur anticipated your search.

Here is an idea for you. Why not become that passionate entrepreneur?

Don't just seek information on the internet. Provide it. Give people what they want. Not everybody of course. But provide information to a targeted niche of web surfers who share your particular interests and passions.

It might surprise you to know how many other ordinary people are doing just that. They share their interests, solve problems and provide information that thousands (even millions) of people are hungry to find.

How do they share this information? By building niche websites out of what they know and what they love. What do they have that you don't have?

  • talent?
  • money?
  • opportunity?
  • passion?

No! They have a plan. You may have passion. You may be willing to work. You may even believe you can do it. All you need is a plan and the determination to follow through.
