How to Input Chinese in English Version of Windows XP
- 1). Launch the Control Panel. Click "Start" from the System Tray located at the bottom of the desktop. Click "Control Panel" from the right-side of the Start Menu. The Control Panel window appears.
- 2). Click "Date, Time, Language and Regional Options" and then click the "Regional and Language Options" icon.
- 3). Click the "Languages" tab from the top of the Regional and Language Options window.
- 4). Select the checkbox next to "Install files for East Asia languages" and click the "Apply" button.
- 5). Click the "Details" button to launch the "Text services and input languages" dialogue box.
- 6). Click "Chinese (PRC)" in the "Input Language" list. (Click "Add" in the "Installed Services" box and enter "Chinese" if it doesn't appear in the list of input languages. The "Keyboard Layout" defaults to "Chinese (Simplified) -- Microsoft Pinyin IME 3.0." Click "OK" to return to the "Regional and Language Options" window.
- 7). Insert your Windows XP install CD for the files to be installed. Click "OK" once the CD has been placed in the optical drive. The language bar will appear in the bottom right-corner of the System Tray once all language files have been installed. The default value is English (EN).
- 8). Click the "EN" button to display the available language options. Click the "CH" Chinese (PRC) option from the languages. You can now type in the Pinyin (Chinese).
