Big Red Buy Buttons and Social Networking
It is rapidly changing the way people interact with each other, and technology and ground rules are changing on a daily basis.
Beginning with places like MySpace, Facebook, and now Twitter, quickly, the way we do business has now changed in ways we never knew or dreamed possible.
But are social networking sites the best places to find prospects for your business? In the beginning, people joined social networks to primarily do four things.
1.
Networking 2.
Friends 3.
Relationships 4.
Dating And I will be first to admit.
When I first began to post on social network sites, I spammed so much, people were lining up with loaves of bread and mustard.
But, I had to be educated in what was acceptable and what was not.
I have to learn that network marketing is, and that is building relationships with people that can last a lifetime.
People did not join to be preached to, or be beat over the head with the latest greatest business opportunity.
They came to these sites for relationships and people they could trust, not a sales pitch.
I'm sure we have all received email with a big long sales letter attached.
The letter goes on and on with BIG RED BUY BUTTONS strategically placed all throughout the letter, so we can conveniently click on the link, be whisk off to the sales page, and have your widget on its way.
Likewise, we must learn to be discreet and tasteful about how we approach pitching our business in a social network environment, even if it is a social network for network marketers.
Too many clickable links and gizmos in our content, quickly makes the reader feel trapped and pitched.
It also sends the message that the owner of this content has no focus and no commitment to his or her message.
All likely to cause your reader to click out very quickly! So, can I put any kind of link in my blog or article? The answer is probably yes, provided it is very subtle.
A link to your web site associated with your signature file, is generally considered acceptable.
Or, perhaps, clickable text somewhere towards the end of your blog or article, but no more than once.
If you focus on delivering valuable content to your audience, you will have won over your reader, and gained a new fan.
The reader will go out of their way to find you without any BIG RED BUY BUTTONS in your material at all.
