An Afternoon with Carolyn Hennesy
Carolyn Hennesy is clearly confused.
Returning after her spectacular death as Rosalyn on True Blood (I got into big trouble last night for spoiling it to a friend who is just now watching the episodes), so I'll say no more), Hennesy finds, with General Hospital no longer giving out full scripts or even a synopsis, that she has no idea what's going on.
So instead of the fans asking her questions initially, she asked the fans.
Hennesy: Now, I saw Patrick in bed with someone with long hair.
Fans: Sabrina.
Hennesy: Was that that nerdy nurse?
Fans: Yes.
Hennesy: Well, haven't we made a little transition. Someone is pregnant with Patrick's baby.
Chaos reigns, as people attempt to explain about "Britch" or "Britt" and her baby.
Hennesy: Whose baby is it?
Fans:Dante and Lulu's. She stole it. Maxie was carrying their baby.
Hennesy: Hang on, hang on, hold the phone.
Fans: Maxie was carrying Dante and Lulu's baby, but she had a miscarriage and got pregnant by Spinelli that same night.
Hennesy: And we all know an egg is just waiting to drop right after a miscarriage.
Fans: Britt's father is Faison and her mother doctor who is one of the people who is holding Robin.
Hennesy: My, a whimsical little group. I mean, I came back and Milo was the star of the show. Now, I know Ron [Carlivati] enjoys a good pair of abs...I don't think anybody on True Blood is as buff as Milo...Anyway, I can now announce that Diane is Spinelli's mother.
She's kidding, of course, at least for the moment.
That out of the way, Hennesy chats about some of the changes in the character of Diane Miller. And there, she's not kidding.
Hennesy: Diane today is only interested in money. I hate that. Bob Guza created Diane. I owe him my career. We were all complicit in making a wonderful character. She had wit, heart, smarts, and a great boyfriend. Now she's just a shark.
Hennesy clearly misses the strip pool-playing Diane, the shoe-shopping Diane, the sexy Diane, as we all do.
Like much of the audience, she would love to see Diane reunited with Max and her old pal, Alexis.
A fan points out: "You did betray Alexis."
Hennesy: Betray is a very strong word.
Director Phideaux Xavier, Hennesy's special guest, hands her the script where Diane trashes Sam's past in court during Rafe's custody hearing.
Hennesy: Well...hmm...I did say that...I said that...
It's looking bleaker and bleaker. Alexis will have to be pretty forgiving. Sje might even have to come down with that tried and true soap opera disease, amnesia.
Hennesy has several new projects going: One is a new book in her Pandora series, her seventh, Pandora Gets Frightened, available on Amazon. She is returning as Rhoda Chesterfield in Jessie, which had its first table reading before her event, and she was fitted for a harness. All of which meant she couldn't bring her adorable dog, Liza Jane, as she did previously. She did announce that Liza is at home, keeping Arbuckle, Sophie Tucker, Sluggo, and Buster the Wonder Cat company, and they all sent us their love.
Another project is the one that has her heart, animal preservation and conservation. Hennesy has just returned from a trip to Cambodia, and she visited the Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
This project is so important to her that we hopefully will have an in-depth interview with Hennesy about it coming up on this site. She has a radio show every other Sunday called "Animal Magnetism" on UBNRADIO.
Hennesy also has a Facebook page devoted to this cause.
Whew - we're not done! Hennesy, through the Acme Comedy Theatre, appears on the Lipstick Jones Half Hour Hour of Power show on youtube, with a new show every Monday. She plays a girl who, with her friend, "kills everyone."
She has a lot going on, but it's obvious she loves it. "There was a time," she says, "when I would have killed to be under contract with General Hospital. But I've been so blessed, and it's stood me in good stead not to have a contract." She just finished the film Platinum with Finola Hughes. And she feels General Hospital has helped all of this to happen.
Hennesy introduces her special guest, as mentioned above, Phideaux Xavier, one of five directors on GH. Again, he was so interesting that he deserves his own interview, so we're hopefully going to give him one.
Hennesy ends the day by autographing and posing for photos tirelessly. She's a woman who works hard not only at acting and writing, but for the causes in which she believes. We all hope her dreams for Diane Miller, for herself, and for wildlife are fulfilled very soon. Whether or not she still practices her work as a trapeze artist, she is indeed, in the name of a song from Evita, "High Flying, Adored."
