To get better at windsurfing, you've got to take chances and change scenery. As much as sailing the same waters week in, week out is enjoyable, it's not going to get you any better.

By moving out of your comfort zone and trying out new spots you'll improve. But what is it you'll be able to do if you're going windsurfing in Greece - or any windsurfing destination for that matter.

Here's a few things you'll have the chance to do that otherwise you'd not bother with or just not have the time.

Check out new gear

Going on holiday liberates tine. This give you plenty of time on the water to get familiar with new equipment you may have not played with yet. Try to get in on some demo days run by schools that support windsurfing in Greece.

Gear takes a lot of adjusting to. Maybe you've been putting off upgrading your kit, or just happily had your head in the sand for 10 years. Well, take the opportunity to up your knowledge, up your skills and pick up something new.

Push the envelope

If you are going to Greece specifically for windsurfing, it's likely you've chosen your spot because it's better than where you sail at home. Repetition may be good to help improve and perfect technique, but what you really need to do to improve is test yourself.

If you usually just sail in a nice safe lake then get yourself of the coast at. Obviously don't pick outrageous conditions, but definitely push your comfort zone and return a better sailor.

Learn from better riders

No matter how good you think you are, there's someone you can learn from. Sometimes it's an instructor, but equally you can improve just by being with other people. Other people's skills and tricks can inspire you. And there's always a helpful voice of encouragement when you pile in.

Book lessons

Greece has a huge coast. If you want to windsurf in Greece and are determined to get better, you should book in with a pro.

Back home you'll be hearing the same old tips from the same old people, when what you need is a fresh voice, and some guidance. There's no better way, or place to learn new tricks and techniques.

The water is warmer, the environment more welcoming, and as you're on holiday you've got the time to dedicate yourself to lessons, not be rushing to get to them and keen to get away from them. Make learning a part of every holiday and you'll improve rapidly while having the time of your life.
