The history of the Cariris Flip Flops
The sandals were created in 1963 in Brazil by INBOP where they were originally manufactured by hand with natural reed based around Japanese Zori sandals. The sandals are current darlings of the fashionists, with their flip flop coming in a rainbow of bright rubber colors. Severino Duarte is the founder of INBOP and chose to name his brand name as Cariris, in honor of the Indians that used to live in the region where the factory is located. Compared to Havaianas
We are compared to the Havaianas flip-flops, but much more affordable. Both of them are made of synthetic rubber and made in Brazil.
Our Sandals are developed from a high quality of rubber which is properly 'cured' which is millions of miles from cheap flip flops that you find in baskets outside seaside shops or in supermarkets; these are often made from the cheapest recycled materials, made in China and designed to fall completely apart after just a few wears.
We are now so famous because they don't collapse when they're worn, they don't stink after a few wears and the thongs don't fall apart like most cheap flip-flops!
In 1998 Brazil's football team didn't win the World Cup but the Cariris Flip-Flops won in the fashion stakes when launching their high heel wedge which quickly was seen on many feet of the nations!

We began to spread out around the world like wild-fire by 2002 after opening a Distribution Center in Florida. Right after that other European countries also began stocking the brand to the point where is became a worldwide phenomenon. In 2007 when the Line(with slim strap) design was developed and sold all over the globe with narrower thongs on the upper sole, women went mad for the new design and it is one of the best seller styles.
