My Closet Smells
- 1). Open the closet door/doors completely to allow for as much air circulation as possible inside.
- 2). Remove all clothes, items and linens from your closet, and wash as usual. Set them aside outside of the closet.
- 3). Clean the floor of the closet thoroughly. If you have carpet, use a vacuum and carpet cleaner specifically designed to eliminate odor. For hard floors, mop with an all-purpose cleaner.
- 4). Place silica packets in any shoes inside the closet. These packets absorb moisture that lingers inside shoes, which can cause odor in your closet.
- 5). Pour 1/2 cup bleach into a bucket, set the bucket inside the closet, and close the door/doors. Remove the bucket after letting it sit inside overnight.
- 6). Place an open box of baking soda in the corner of your closet and return the clean clothes, linens and other items.
