A bridal shower is a special occasion leading up to a wedding. That's why the ideas for her bridal shower should be personalized to her specific tastes and hobbies. For the bride who enjoys a fragrant cup of tea, plan a shower that features colorful flowers, floral-printed napkins and personalized cups and saucers from her guests. - Purchase bridal shower invitations in the shape of a teakettle or cup and saucer. Decorate the shower tables with colorful napkins and tablecloths. Insert a small bouquet of fragrant flowers into a teakettle to create a centerpiece. Country Living recommends that you "place one tulip and a menu card at each place setting to make the guests feel special."
- Serve a sampling of various flavored teas, petit fours, scones, finger sandwiches and assorted desserts. Display the food on fine china, silver platters and colorful linen napkins and tablecloths. For tea-themed party favors, give your guests a sampling of all of the teas served at the party. Place the teas in a colorful china cup. Wrap the tea and cup with cellophane and a beautiful floral ribbon.
- Ask your guests to wear colorful hats for a fun contest. Each member of the bridal party will vote for the most beautiful and colorful hat at the shower. Play a fun game featuring various kitchen utensils attached to an apron. Secure four or six various common kitchen items, such as a plastic spoon, spatula or measuring cups to the outside of an apron worn by the bride. Have the bride-to-be walk around each of the tables at the shower, showing the shower guests the items attached to the apron. Ask the bride to leave the room. The guests must write down each of the items attached to the apron from memory. The guest who remembers the most items wins.
- To create a special tea set for the bride, ask the shower participants to bring one saucer and teacup for the bride-to-be. The set should best represent the guest of honor's style, taste and wedding colors. After the bridal shower, this bride will have a unique assortment of saucers and cups for her new kitchen.
