How to Install & Wire a Honeywell R8845U1003
- 1). Shut off power to your old thermostat. There should be a switch in your electrical box that safely turns off the power to this room or section of your house. Use a flashlight to see if your lights go out.
- 2). Unscrew the previous model from the wall. Hold the thermostat in one hand while you take notice of how the wires are connected in the back for future reference.
- 3). Disconnect the wires by unscrewing each terminal point. Set aside the old model.
- 4). Place electrical tape around the middle section of the wires to keep them together. Wrap the tape around a couple times between the area coming out of the wall and the exposed ends.
- 5). Connect the wires to the Honeywell using the color-coded markers. R stands for red, Y for yellow, G for green and W for white. Tighten down each screw.
- 6). Use a drill to attach the provided screw into the wall. Hold the thermostat in place with your other hand while you drill through each hole.
- 7). Go back to the electrical box and restore power. Wait for your system to power on and then program your new device.
