Building an 8 X 10 Shed - Beneficial Techniques For Constructing A Shed Speedily

103 15
It is important to know the necessary steps in building a 8x10 shed because a shed of this size can be used for storage purposes.
The shed needs to be sturdy enough to be able to survive tough weather conditions so as to protect the material you have kept inside it.
Pay attention to the size of your shed, its measurements, and techniques needed to build it as well as the quality of material you use to build the shed.
Constructing an 8x10 shed is no easy task, but the job can be made easier for you if you follow the simple steps given below.
You can use on-grade foundation, which is made of concrete blocks or pressure- treated wood timber for setting the foundation on the ground.
Be careful and make sure that you do not use hollow concrete blocks for the base of the shed.
It is important also, that you do not choose a swampy area for building such a shed as the foundation might be prone to erosion.
Cut 2x10 lumber wood strips to make an outer frame and jostle them into place to create an outer frame.
Cut 2x6 joists and lay them to fit within the frame.
This is followed by placing 3/4 inch tongue and groove kind of plywood floors.
Use galvanized nails to put the joists and floor into place sturdily.
Cut out the wall plates for long walls and apply three studs on each and every corner to act as connectors for the smaller walls.
Then use vertical plywood siding on the shed wall frame and put in nails at every 6 inches.
When moving along the edges of the wall, add nails at every 10 inches.
Place the window frame on the wall in such a way that its edges are square with the edges of the wall boundary.
Make sure your windows, if using vinyl windows, have their sidings in place.
The wall prepared with the attached window needs to be raised.
Position it in such a way that the upper plate of the prepared wall overlaps with the lower plate of the floor of the shed.
Now, nail this prepared wall along the overlapping of the floor plate and the wall plate.
Start working with a jig layout directly onto the floor of the shed or you can also use a plywood base for the preparation.
Make a bottom chord of 2x4 to fit the shed.
Place trusses of 2x4 along the frame of the roof and nail them well.
Use a string to install the trusses at appropriate distance from each other.
The tail of each truss should be at a distance of 3/4 inch from the stretched string.
Place a siding over the trusses that have been now nailed into place.
And keep in mind that roofing felt is used to cover the plywood.
