How to Make a Lattice Twin Headboard

    • 1). Determine how tall you want the headboard to be. Push the bed up against the wall. Place the bottom of a measuring tape on top of the mattress and pull it up on the wall to the point where you want the headboard to sit. Subtract one inch from the measurement to allow for the addition of molding to the lattice.

    • 2). Cut a 4-foot-by-8-foot panel of lattice to fit the dimensions of the width of the bed and the measurement that was taken in step 1. Twin-sized beds measure 39-inches in width, so cut the lattice so that it is 39-inches wide and cut the height to whatever size you determined you want the headboard to be, four feet, for example. Use a circular saw to make the cuts in the lattice.

    • 3). Cut a piece of one-inch cap molding that is two inches larger than the width of the lattice -- 41-inches in this case. Use a circular saw to make the cut. Apply wood glue to the top of the lattice and slip the cap molding over the top of the lattice so that there is a one-inch overhang on either side of the lattice.

    • 4). Cut two pieces of cap molding that equal the height of each of the sides of the lattice. For example, if the sides are four feet tall, cut two pieces of molding that are each four feet. Use a circular saw to make the cuts. Apply wood glue to the sides of the lattice and slip the cap molding in place.

    • 5). Screw anchors into the wall where the top and bottom corners of the headboard will sit. Hold the headboard up to the wall, positioning the corners over the anchors. Screw the headboard into place so that the screws go through the headboard and into the anchors.
