What Do You Need to Have a Dog Party?

104 9

    Food

    • Typical dog food is specially formulated for the digestion of a dog. While food served at a dog party can be more elaborate than a bowl of kibble, consider what a dog can digest when creating these dishes. It is a well-known fact that chocolate can kill dogs if ingested, and so this ingredient should be avoided when making dog treats. Dogs do not need a lot of food for snacking so one main treat such as cake is all that is needed for a dog party. Serving cupcakes rather than one large cake can help avoid any dog fights over food as each "guest" is served a separate portion. Think about a customized dog bowl to serve food in for each dog; this could also double as a party favor.

    Decorations

    • Decorations for a dog party help create a festive environment. Choosing a color palate helps unify the decorations you decide to use. Think about decorations that dogs also will enjoy and can double as an activity or point of interest for the party. If your dog can jump through a hula hoop, use hula hoops when decorating. Create decorative garland by stringing dog bones together. These edible decorations could cause havoc if aggressive dogs attend the party, however, so make sure you invite certain types of dogs if using edible decorations.

    Guests

    • Creating a guest list for a dog party may be one of the most challenging aspects. A room full of dogs can be tricky. Limiting guests to a few dogs who know each other helps keep any dog fights to a minimum. It is advisable to insist that the dogs owners also attend the party. BYOL--bring your own leash--also is advisable. Even if the dogs end up not wearing the leashes, they will be on hand to help to contain dogs if problems or fights break out at the party. Think about the dogs that get along best together and invite those dogs to the party.
