How to Test the Strength of a Black Light
- 1). Unscrew the bulb of the black light from its lamp. Set the bulb on a sturdy wooden table.
- 2). Turn on your Ohm reader and calibrate it. Move the switch so that you are testing between 0 and 200 Ohms.
- 3). Plug the the Ohm meter's probe wire into the bulb's socket. Place the other side of the probe wire on the tip of the bulb.
- 4). Examine the Ohm meter to determine the resistance. The higher the level of Ohms, the stronger the bulb.
- 1). Place the spectrometer on the table next to the black light. Turn off the lights and close any curtains to block out natural light.
- 2). Turn the spectrometer's power switch to the "On" position. Turn on the black light.
- 3). Angle the spectrometer so that the black light hits it.
- 4). Examine the results on the spectrometer. You should see short wavelengths and strong violet colors. The more vibrant the violet, the stronger the black light.
