While preparing for the arrival of your baby, you parents tend to buy quite a lot of things. There's the furniture, the clothes, the pillows, the toys - everything and anything that seems remotely connected to giving your child a great life. You also have the big-ticket purchases though for most everything else you'll probably receive a lot of gifts from doting family members and friends too.

You may want to scrimp, but eventually your natural instinct to protect and provide for your child will take over. You want the best, so you stretch your budget as much as you can just to ensure that you can give your child everything he or she needs in order to grow up healthy, happy, and strong.

Now the thing here is that your child will grow up in just the blink of an eye. You may think your child's really small now, but they grow up so fast. In just a few years, your baby will be replaced by a teen who definitely has personal opinions and won't let you decide on what clothes they ought to wear.

So once your baby's gone off to university, what do you do with their old baby stuff? It takes up space and won't be in use anymore. What you can do is start with a garage sale. Just make sure that you do look through all the items first and ensure that none of them at seriously damaged. This is because the items will be used by kids, so obviously you what to check and make sure they are still in good shape.

For items like clothes and shoes, you can always give them to family members who have kids. The great thing about baby clothes is that your children grow up so fast that their clothes are barely used. Just patch minor flaws up, wash, and iron if you can. This way it won't look awful when you give the clothes away.

Next, there are people who will benefit from your nursery furniture. Nursery furniture items are some of the most expensive things parents will have to buy so if yours are still in good condition, ask around and see if you can get new homes for them.

You can also take them to second hand shops in case no one in your family or circle of friends needs them. You get to sell these off without having to do any of the work on your own. Just leave them to the second hand shops. Plus you get some of your initial money back. Just don't expect too much.

If you're feeling kind, though, one great option is to donate these clothes, shoes, and nursery furniture to the less fortunate. Just imagine how much good you can do by giving away these things that others can still benefit from.

Whatever you decide on, the point is that other people will probably still be able to use the baby stuff you no longer need. This means that you won't have to worry about these old nursery furniture taking up space or your baby's old clothes rotting away.
