If you are hosting or planning an Italian wedding, then you may want to bring in elements of the Italian culture. One way to do this is to give guests a taste of Italian "confetti." Many Europeans give small gifts or favors--called bombonieras--to guests at special celebrations such as weddings and baptisms. Sugared almonds are known as "confetti" and can be incorporated into a variety of Italian gifts and favors. - Give guests a confetti flower. This is a traditional favor at an Italian wedding. You can order confetti flowers from online vendors, or you can make them on your own. Confetti flowers are flowers made of tulle and almond candies. The almond candies are wrapped in tulle to form the petals of the flower. You can purchase confetti flowers to match the colors of your wedding.
- Purchase Italian paper boxes filled with candies for your wedding guests. These boxes often are filled with candied almonds and then encased in ribbons and decorated with flowers. For an authentic touch, you can order your confetti-filled Italian paper boxes directly from Italy.
- Make a batch of Italian wedding cookies for an engagement party or a wedding reception. Italian wedding cookies keep with the "confetti theme" because they incorporate almonds. It is likely that you already have the ingredients you need in your kitchen pantry. You will need unsalted butter, confectioners sugar, salt, blanched almonds, flour and vanilla extract. Use a recipe from a free recipe website, such as The Food Network. Once these traditional cookies have cooled, place them in a cookie box which you can buy from a craft store. Lay a doily in the bottom on the box, stack the cookies on the doily, and then sprinkle confetti around the remaining space in the box.
