Online Tennessee Nursing Schools
- Middle Tennessee State University's University College offers an online program enabling registered nurses to earn Bachelor of Science degrees in nursing. The program features interactive learning experiences and enables students to earn their bachelor's degree in as few as three semesters with prior completion of prerequisite courses. The program features supplemental clinical experiences at a medical facility near the student's home.
Middle Tennessee State University also participates in the Regents Online Master of Science in Nursing Program, which is an effort by the Tennessee Board of Regents to reduce the nursing shortage. Students are able to specialize in one of four areas: family nurse practitioner, nursing education, nursing administration or nursing informatics. - The College of Nursing at East Tennessee State University offers an online program for registered nurses to earn their Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, and an online-blended Doctor of Nursing Practice program. The bachelor's degree program is intended to provide higher education opportunities for students who have an associate degree or hospital certificate in nursing. The coursework is completed entirely online with the exception of limited meetings in cohort locations throughout the state.
The doctoral program prepares students for leadership positions and features online coursework with one or two intensive on-campus sessions per semester. The Doctor of Nursing Practice Program features four concentrations: family nurse practitioner, executive leadership, adult-gerontological nurse practitioner and psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner.
The College of Nursing also offers an online Master of Science in Nursing program through the Regents Online Campus Collaborative. - Tennessee Tech University participates in the Master of Science in Nursing Degree program offered through the Regents Online Campus Collaborative. As with the other institutions, students are able to concentrate on nursing education, nursing administration, family nurse practitioner or nursing informatics. Students are required to be licensed as a registered nurse with a bachelor's degree in nursing or another field, and to have completed their supporting classes for registered nurse or Master of Science in Nursing.
- The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga School of Nursing offers a registered nurse-to-Bachelor of Science in Nursing program that enables students to complete their coursework entirely online. The program is intended for working registered nurses, and generally spans four semesters with two to three nursing courses per semester.
The School of Nursing also offers an online Doctor of Nursing Practice program to enable nurses to specialize in advanced nursing practices. Students are able to select a direct practice track that focuses on patient care or indirect practice track that concentrates on leadership, health care policy and program development.
