How to Host a Babyshower
- 1). Talk with the expectant mother to decide on a date for the baby shower. In most cases, the shower should be in the third trimester and at least a few weeks before the due date in case the baby comes early.
- 2). Make a guest list and obtain addresses for all of the guests. The mother-to-be can help with this step.
- 3). Choose a theme for the baby shower. Although you don't need a theme, using a theme can help to visually tie together all of the elements, including the invitations, decorations, cake and games. Potential themes include a specific animal, bedtime stories, pampering mommy, afternoon tea or the nursery colors.
- 4). Purchase or make invitations with all of the essential information, including the time, date and location, along with your name and phone number so guests can RSVP. You can also include gift ideas from a store registry where the expectant mother has a wish list or recommend items related to theme, such as a pack of diapers, children's book or frozen meal.
- 5). Plan the food and drinks for the party, including place settings or disposable tableware. Food can be simple, for example chips and dip, fruit salad, baked goods, and a cake or cupcakes. If you are serving a brunch or lunch, make a casserole, which you can prepare in advance and pop in the oven on the day of the baby shower.
- 6). Design at least two games to play at the baby shower. These activities will give guests something fun to do together before the expectant mother opens her gifts. Potential games include identifying baby food or chocolate bars smeared in diapers, remembering items on a tray or hanging from a clothesline, pairing baby socks or drinking juice from a baby bottle.
