What Triggers Panic Symptoms?

105 11
Are you like most people who don't take stress and panic symptoms seriously until it becomes a real problem? Most of us know what it feels like to be stressed; we feel easily irritable, angry and we feel overwhelmed with anxious thoughts and troubling sensations. Stress can arise in a number of avenues such as working in a job you don't enjoy, being in an unhappy relationship and having financial difficulties.Often problems seem to all come tumbling down on us at once and life can be overwhelming to deal with.

When you place your hand in an extremely hot pan of water, your stress response triggers. Instantly your body sends your brain warning signals; your brain registers extreme heat and pain, and you pull away your hand. In just a few seconds, panic symptoms kick in; your heart starts to race, you breathe faster, and your senses become heightened. In moments of fear or danger the body will react in thee same way.

This chemical or 'stress' response is what keeps us on our edge; makes us wary and motivates us to do things. The stress response is important in that it helps us keep track of time and deadlines and makes us aware of threats. Toddlers can be a handful and often put themselves in danger. If you've ever looked after a small child you'll know how tough it can be. What was once a comfortable and relaxing place for an adult suddenly becomes a hazardous area.

You scan the room for any potential hazards; loose wires, sharp corners and dangerous objects, and you remove them. When the child is about to do something dangerous, such as trap their fingers in the drawer, the same stress response kicks into action. A wave of anxiousness flows through you and you immediately react instinctively.

Prolonged stress is much like sticking your hand in a cool pan of water and slowly heating it up to boiling point. When stress chemicals in the body increase it can affect our energy levels and mood. Our wellbeing diminishes; frequent colds, headaches, pains, and digestive problems are common symptoms. These same sensations can be felt when we experience panic symptoms only with less intensity.

Sleep problems are often related to stress and anxiety. Even being exhausted doesn't help a person sleep when they feel anxious and stressed out. When your body is primed for fight or flight it's very difficult to calm down. They may have thoughts of dread and worry and find it difficult to relax as if they're ready to explode.

Instead of dealing with stress, most people pay no attention until they develop panic symptoms or other problems. Reducing stress and anxiety is very important and it can be done in many ways such as meditation, EFT and exercise. Prolonged exposure to stress hormones can affect both physical and mental health. They can weaken the immune system and lead to other problems such as insomnia, depression and obesity.
