How the UN Resolution for a Palestinian State Aligns With End Times Prophecy
It is not likely that Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas understands that his push for a U.
N.
resolution on a Palestinian state aligns perfectly with end-times Bible prophecy.
However, since it does, it appears that the Palestinian leader's "heart is in the hand of the LORD, like the rivers of water; He turns it wherever He wishes" (Proverbs 21:1).
Though God is using Abbas' scheme to align with His end-times plan, it was still not a wise choice on Abbas' part.
This is because, with the push for a U.
N.
resolution declaring a Palestinian state, Abbas shot himself in the foot, as there are at least four reasons why his plan is a very bad idea.
First, even a U.
N.
declaration of a Palestinian state will not change the reality; for the Palestinians have no government, and without Israel's help, the state would go under in record time.
To be perfectly clear about this, the Palestinians are pursuing an entirely imaginary state that has no functioning government, does not meet the requirements of international law, and cannot economically sustain itself.
In regard to its non-functioning government, it has a "president" (Mahmoud Abbas) whose term ended in January of 2006 (and who put off an election because he knew he would not be reelected), it has a prime minister (Salam Fayyad) who has no legitimacy, according to the largest political party (Hamas) in the new "unity" government, and it has no legislature.
(The last legislature was elected for a four-year term in January of 2006.
) Second, if the Palestinians go through with this insane plan, Israel will enact its own measures, which could include withholding millions of needed dollars the Jewish nation has been giving the Palestinians every year.
To state it more bluntly, the push for a U.
N.
vote is occurring even though a new Palestinian state would not be able to support itself.
After all, the Palestinian Authority is broke, and cannot even pay its government workers.
Third, this action by the Palestinians will release Israel from its responsibilities under the Oslo Accords.
Fourth, it will also release Israel from cooperating with the Palestinians on numerous other issues that have been necessary for the survival of the Palestinians.
As if that move were not foolish enough, Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas is calling for mass protests in Israel in support of the U.
N.
bid for a resolution.
With no interest in negotiating with Israel, the Palestinian leadership is trying a two-pronged approach to be recognized as a state.
Leaders are calling on the U.
N.
for a resolution recognizing the Palestinian state, and they are trying to force a state by seeking to bring down the current Israeli leadership.
What will that accomplish? Most likely, it will result in less Israeli cooperation with the Palestinians, which will, in turn, make life far more difficult for them.
After all, if the U.
S.
is the number one enabler of the Palestinians, then Israel is a close second-particularly when one adds up the help Israel bestows in the areas of jobs, medical care, security, etc.
The U.
N.
resolution vote will, in all practicality, be a meaningless one.
As Salam Fayyad, the Palestinian prime minister, stated, practically, the vote will not change anything.
"The day after the vote will be the same as the day before" Fayyad wisely stated.
It was the threat of the U.
N.
resolution by the Palestinians that caused President Obama to add to the end of his Middle East speech in May the public call to Israel to withdraw to the pre-1967 borders.
After all, the president does not want to have to vote against that resolution.
By vetoing this resolution, the president would set himself up in the Arab community as an enemy of Palestinian rights and statehood.
Thus, by that call to Israel, the president was looking to extricate himself from the proverbial rock and a hard place.
Initially, Prime Minister Netanyahu publicly rejected the president's call, declaring those are defenseless borders; and he received standing ovations in Congress for doing so.
Now the Israeli prime minister says he is willing to consider withdrawing to the 1967 borders.
So what is going on? This new stance appears to be a political move by the prime minister.
It seems he is banking on the Palestinians' (i.
e.
, Abbas) refusal to negotiate-especially when one non-negotiable for Israel is that the Palestinians must recognize the right of Israel to exist.
Prime Minister Netanyahu is correct: In fact, the Palestinian Authority already dismissed this offer.
Since the offer included the proviso that the Palestinians recognize the right of Israel to exist as a Jewish state, the offer was spurned immediately.
By this offer, Netanyahu becomes the good guy in this situation-even among the media.
But, more importantly, he becomes even more the hero in the eyes of the U.
S.
Congress.
As a result, he preserves money for Israel in the midst of the deficit negotiations.
As a matter of fact, that might be the real reason Netanyahu is making this offer at this time.
But God is using this to align for end-times fulfillment.
By continuing to refuse to negotiate, especially when Israel appears to offer what the Palestinians want, the Palestinian Authority loses international credibility.
This appears to align with God's prophetic plan since the Palestinians are nowhere to be found in the prophetic picture; they are not even among the ten co-signers with Israel on the end-times (seven-year) treaty, producing "peace and security" (as per 1 Thessalonians 5:3).
Thus, this is all according to (God's) plan.
The vote on the resolution for a Palestinian state will accomplish nothing, except that it is disengaging both European nations and Arab states from the Palestinians, and it will continue to push the Palestinians right out of the regional treaty picture.
As a result, they will be missing from end-times prophecy, just as the Bible shows.
